Detail : Details:- The Assam Agricultural University, the first institution of its kind in the north-eastern region, was established on April 1, 1969 under the Assam Agricultural University Act, 1968. The jurisdiction of the University extends to the entire State of Assam with regard to teaching, research and extension education in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. University is marching ahead with full dedication to serve the farmers of Assam and even the adjoining states. Therefore, it has rightfully found a place among the leading State Agricultural Universities of the country. It is the only SAU in the North-Eastern Region with direct socio-economic commitments, and hence, different from other Universities of the state. The highly qualified scientific work force of AAU is ready to work in the frontier areas of science to meet the emerging challenges. However, it requires good nurturing by all the well-wishers and very strong support from the state government and ICAR to enable it to deliver in real terms and also to use the support already available from other sources for research and development.
